Unit 5–Persuasive Research Assignment
Explanation
Find a minimum of 5 references on your topic. Your research assignment will consist of a document where the source is given using correct MLA citation, following the source you will type or summarize a piece of supporting material you want to use from the source. If the document has page numbers, remember to include the page number. If you are quoting directly, put quotation marks around the information. You will need these to complete the Research Assignment.
Please do not just Google your topic. You will find a lot of information but it will be difficult to verify the qualifications of the author. Many web sites appear to be non-profit organizations when they are really blogs. Blogs should not be used.
Focus on finding facts, statistics, research studies, expert opinions, real-life examples and stories that will help you build your persuasive argument. In persuasion, it is important to use a combination of logical and emotional appeals. If your audience them to dispute. - Include one piece of supporting material taken from the source.
- Identify the type of supporting material
- Write how you would orally footnote the source in the speech. What you would say to the audience about the source.
